I’m Dariush Shafa, education reporter for the Messenger-Inquirer.
Stepping into the education beat has been a bit of a challenge. My last beat was crime and public safety and the last time I covered education, I was a student journalist at the University of Kentucky.
But, that doesn’t mean that I’m not looking forward to covering this topic. Since I took the new beat, I’ve been amazed by the people I’ve met, the children I’ve watched learning and the programs in place to make sure that those children reach their full potential.
I hope this blog not only helps you get a look inside our schools and their classrooms, but also even a little bit behind the scenes. Along the way, I know I’ll be learning plenty and I hope to share that with all our readers, including you. Thanks for reading.
